Martin Bird is a Principal & strategic risk consultant within Hewitt's Global Risk Services practice and leads the Longevity Solutions Group.
Although Martin is a practising scheme actuary, with experience of advising on all aspects of pensions, he currently spends most of his time providing strategic advice to a range of large UK and multinational corporate clients with schemes ranging in size from £50million to £6billion.
Much of Martin's recent work has been in relation to advising clients on longevity swap solutions and is currently working on a number of transactions which are close to completion. Martin has also worked on the other side of the deal, advising a large financial institution who was considering acting as an investor in a longevity swap. Martin therefore brings insight from both a pension scheme and investor mindset.
Martin is frequently quoted in the media, has been involved in speaking at a range of seminars and has written a number articles on topical pensions issues for magazines and newspapers.
